1 Litre (“Y” class) hydroplanes are small, light and lightning quick, racing to speeds over 105 mph. While supercharging is not allowed, other modifications are encouraged. The engines are typically 2-cycle marine based with a maximum displacement of 1160cc. Normally, you would find these type of motors in a personal water craft.

1 Liter is one of the most exciting and competitive classes in APBA Region 10. With a large field of boats, drivers have to fight for every point they earn on the road to the national title. Many current and former Unlimited Hydroplane drivers, including J. Michael Kelly, Jimmy Shane, Jeff Bernard and Ryan Mallow, compete in this class.
